How do I check coverage for my specific model?

Each tool has a different coverage list. The best way to check compatibility if unsure is to send us your vehicle make/model/year and we’ll confirm compatibility before purchase – you can do this via our contact form

Can this scan tool read ABS, Airbag, Transmission & DPF systems?

Most mid-range and professional level tools cover full systems. Basic OBD-II readers only read engine/ECU. If you need ABS/SRS/transmission or DPF functions, choose a tool listed as “Full System” and check the product description for more details

Can this tool do DPF regeneration?

Many tools support DPF regen, DPF reset and soot/ash data, but availability is vehicle-specific. Check the product description on the product page, as well as comparisons tables or message us with your vehicle details.

Do I need Wi-Fi or internet to use the tool?

No—diagnostics, scanning and service resets work offline. Internet is only required for registration, updates or cloud-based functions on certain pro tablets.

Does this tool work on older OBD1 vehicles?

Some tools are OBD2 only so it is important to check the scan tool you're purchasing is OBD1/ALDL compatible if purchasing for an OBD1/ALDL vehicle – some older OBD1 vehicles also have a non standard OBD port in which case you'll also need a cable adapter. Ask us with your vehicle make, model, and year to confirm OBD compatibility.

Can I damage my car using a scan tool?

Reading/clearing codes and live data is safe. Advanced coding or adaptations should only be performed if you understand the procedure, but the scanner itself won’t harm the vehicle.

What’s the difference between DIY and workshop scanners?

DIY units general handle code reading, live data and basic resets. Workshop-grade tools support full-system diagnostics, coding, calibrations and wider coverage—ideal for professionals.

Do these scanners support coding & calibrations?

Only mid/high-end tablets support coding, adaptations and calibrations (e.g., injector coding, SAS, EPB, gearbox learning). Entry-level OBD-II readers do not include these features. Better to check directly with us if unsure.

What happens when the update period expires?

Usually your tool continues working normally. Updates are optional and required if you want newer vehicles or added features. Diagnostics and existing functions remain usable. We would recommend to stay on top of updates to ensure you tool runs as efficiently as possible. We can easily assist with the updates process of any tool purchased from us.

Do I need a bi-directional scanner?
